Skip Beat! Vol 19 Yoshiki Nakamura Books Reviews
- Finally we learn something more about Ren's relationship with his father Koo! This volume is entirely about the relationships between Ren and Koo, and Kyoko and Koo. While there isn't really any advancement in the relationship between Ren and Kyoko, vol. 19 is far from filler or a waste of time. A lot of questions are answered, and we find out a bit about Ren's mother and what she is like.
Moko puts in an all-too-brief appearance. I wish we saw more of her.
As always, humor abounds. Kyoko's dread of Ren's reaction to her informal treatment of him at the end of vol. 18 is comical, as is her imaginings of herself as a shriveled daikon radish. President Lory's clothing is as overdone as always, but he makes no wacky dramatic entrances in this volume.
The series is just as amusing and engrossing as it was at the beginning. I'm looking forward to vol. 20! - I love, love, love, this manga. It's funny, touching, and just flat out wonderful. Kyoko is trying her best to pursue her dream of revenge against, Sho, her crush who dumped her once he made it big as an idol. Kyoko's determined to get her revenge by outshining him in show business and she's taken the first step by landing a small acting gig. Things are starting to look up! However being a "Love Me" memeber at LME agency means that she also has to do what her supervisors say and her supervisor wants her to fill in for a sick manager. The actor she'll be managing? Ren, the superstar that hates her! But this time Kyoko's determined to get full marks on this job. The only trouble is that being a manager is alot more work then she thought especially when Ren gets sick. Kyoko may be in over her head but all her TLC has Ren thinking that maybe he misjudged her.
Skip Beat is well draw and I love, love, love the characters. Kyoko is so layered! She's so, tough and sweet yet vunerable, that it's hard not to love her. All the guys are gorgeous, even the evil Sho, and the chemistry between Ren and Kyoko has me dying to see them smooch! This is a very funny, fast paced, sweet, not enough wonderful adjectives to descibe it, series. It's one of my favirotes and this latest volume has me beaming from ear to ear. - I have been reading this series since 2005. I adore the characters, plot, and comedic/romantic tones that it carries. The three volume combination is such a great money saver for me as I have been waiting to own this series for a loooong time now. The quality of the pages are thinner but that doesn't deter away from the art or contrast quality. Please continue with the series 3-in-1 and Yoshiki Nakamura, continue your wonderful work!
- Big skip beat fan, cant get enough!!
Amazing artwork, perfect storyline, romance, drama, comedy, you can connect with the characters
I just love it!!! So glad I started this series!! wish the anime would come out in American/English!! - Skip Beat is a great manga and I would recommend it to anyone who likes an awesome story! I'm ADDICTED to it! It makes me laugh and it's so well written that you get a really good grasp of the characters. I can't wait until the next one comes out!!! Another manga that is kind of similar to Skip Beat! is The One, which is another addictive manga. Tokyo Crazy Paradise is another work by Yoshiki Nakamura that is completed and it is EXCELLENT!!! If you can find it translated, read it-you won't regret it!
- Loving the storyline
- 'Skip Beat!' is a Japanese (shoujo comedy, or young women's romance/comedy) manga (aka comic book) that has been translated into English. It is hilariously funny and clean (no smut and no pornographic images). There are currently 28 Volumes of 'Skip Beat!' printed and translated into Enlish. I have read these online and was so impressed that I have been slowly collecting each volume, I currently own up to volume 12. This manga and all other mangas I have ordered from this dealer has come to me in pres-teen condition within normal shipping days. I highly recommend 'Skip Beat!' to any teenage audience or anyone interested in hilarious/sweet romantic comedies.
