"Adventure, love gained, love lost, tragedy, suspense, happy ending. Death and murder without the gruesome details. Pure love without the lust. A book for those who appreciate old style literature. It is not for those who are looking to be titillated by blood and sex scenes."

Isobel a romance of the northern trail James Oliver Curwood Books Reviews :
Isobel a romance of the northern trail James Oliver Curwood Books Reviews
- Apparently Curwood was a famous western author in the early half of the 20th century. Kind of like Jack London, but not as depressing. VERY melodramatic, but this story of a lawman in the frozen north of Canada made you feel the loneliness and how you can be fine one minute and fighting for survival the next. The lawman unintentionally falls in love with a murder's wife. Plot twists ensue. I don't know which blog recommended it but it was free at the store, so I at least got my money's worth!
- This book caught my attention because of its setting. I have always been fascinated by life in the far north, in the kind of cold climate that I have never come close to experiencing. The book was interesting in that regard, but the focus was the story. It was a romance, but in some ways not of the normal sort. At least not like anything I had ever read before. I thought it ended appropriately (endings are important to me). This book was a good diversion for a few hours.
- Another time and it may not have happened. Any other path and theirs may have never crossed. But fate was with them in the desolate wilderness and on their side. Man has long been inspired by the great unknown. He has lived for setting his own path. Bringing law to the area was another matter that only a few were compelled to employ. Now under the most unbelievable circumstances, few could even imagine, let alone follow through with, one man is on the quest of his life. It will come to fruition or his death. But he will see it through for Isobel.
- Adventure, love gained, love lost, tragedy, suspense, happy ending. Death and murder without the gruesome details. Pure love without the lust. A book for those who appreciate old style literature. It is not for those who are looking to be titillated by blood and sex scenes.
- Surprisingly well written story, with twists and turns in the plot. I could not put the book down, and had to recharge my kindle several times while reading, so not to lose the thread of the story. The ending is amazing.
- Every time I read another of Curwood`s novels, I am stunned by the depth of knowledge on the era, and life-style of the subjects themselves.
- It took me longer to read than if it were captivating. The characters were good, and the storyline was fine, but all the dross was not necessary!
- Much to like and will recommend this author to others Felt like I had gone n the adventure with the man character.
